Our Read a Thon is Coming!

All classes have received a kick off presentation in media classes. On Feb. 15th, your child will be bringing home their class secret code to create their Reader Pages. You can create these at any time. The Read a Thon officially begins on Monday, February 20th. Students will have information on prizes and incentives and I am adding them to this post as well.

The Read a Thon is Feb. 20th-Mar. 3rd. During this time, we as a school pledge to provide students with an extra 30 minutes to read or be read to each day. This is our Spring whole school fundraiser. Money collected is used to purchase instructional materials and resources for classrooms.

One of the activities we have added ths year is a Book Swap. Students can bring in a book from home that is clean and in good condition. The books do not need to be new. Just something that perhaps is no longer needed. I will collect all the books donated and during the last week of the Read a Thon students will have the opportunity to pick a "new to them" book to keep.

My goal is to have enough books donated to the swap that EVERY student will get to pick ONE "new to them" book. If you happen to have extra books you would like to donate, please send them to me in the media center.
